What does the band offer students?
In addition to the educational/academic advances, band participation offers students some key benefits that all teenagers want and need. These include:
Acceptance by peers: From the very beginning, incoming members of the band have a large group of peers ready to welcome them into the band family.
Recognition and self-worth: Members of the band are recognized by the student population, faculty and community as being among the top students at TCHS.
Fun, Enjoyment and rewards: Making music is fun, and students enjoy making music with their friends even more. Band camp is a fun time to bond with others. Many students turn band participation into scholarship dollars for college and careers in music or other leadership and service professions. The band gives each student opportunities for personal success while participating in a structured activity.

WIll upcoming students have time/room in their class schedule for band?
This allows for a total of 28 credits over four years of high school. The average college bound student has between 10 and 12 elective credits open in their course schedule during these four years. This allows students plenty of room in their schedule for AICE, Dual Enrollment, and Honors level classes. An added advantage for band members is that participation in band counts as a Performing/Practical Arts Credit eliminating the necessity to take these courses which opens their class schedule for other electives. Students also receive a half credit of PE for being in the band. When coupled with a half credit of virtual school PE, this eliminates the need for taking the HOPE class as it fulfills that graduation requirement.
